friendster....yer fired!

I'm a bit late in the game with this one. But it looks like a girl that worked at friendster got fired for posting on her personal blog that she was hired to convert the site from java to php which would make the site less poky. This post got picked up by slashdot then by wired and then finally to the executives desk that ultimately fired her ass!

cNet has a good review of this. Here's my take on this crap. Sites like myspace, friendster , ork, and other social networking sites are really scary as well as personal blogs like xanga and the like because we tend to post info about ourselves as well as join groups and other online clubs. Little do we think about who actually sees this crap. It could be our friends and it could be our bosses. So what happens when your boss reads your personal blog or friendster profile and sees what you are associated with, like perhaps the sheep fuckers club, or you have a 'i hate my boss' riff. What's stopping them from firing your ass for any of these that they don't like or deem appropriate for the company? This goes well beyond the whole background check.

I think people tend to be honest with their answers in any of these social networks, which makes us way more vulnerable than anything else. Really puts things into perspective. Should we make our blogs and friendster profiles by invite only? If so, then whats the point?

The new iMac

Apple has announced its new all in one iMac. It's pretty sleek actually with its anodized arm and widescreen lcd panel. I must admit at 2inches, its really slim. When the rumours were abound that Apple will showcase an all in one like this, I had my doubts.

But no more!

Its still sexy! Really looks like an ipod. I was hoping it had the anodized aluminum casing. But we can hope for an update later.

M$ will be going after apple itunes

After telling us that Microsoft won't be developing an online store, they have now said the plan on doing so and going after iTunes. Makes sense especially if they can make it so that they don't alienate the online stores that licensed their music file protection.

I can see how microsoft will try and dominate it by integrating it into their windows media play, and windows itself, of course also offering iTunes or someother music site so they don't get hit with antitrust suits again.

This will be intersesting to see to say the least. At least microsoft has increased their copying of Apple's pace. It now only took them 3 years?

Oh well. We'll see how this plays out. I am sure that one of these days M$ will actually have an original idea or design. Will it be in my lifetime? Doubt it.

dual arm imac?

This would be a great idea. www.macrumors.com has the image of the patent design that was released today. The base is pretty fugly. It's a pyramid! oye vay. But I do hope the dual arm goes into play in the new imac. That's be sweet. I would totally get that! But then again, I would love P. Diddy's Hp-ipod. It has diamonds! fish tank sink!

Ok, I must admit that this really takes the cake! Its a fish tank built into a sink! Moco Loco has it. This is really sweet. I would love to have to have this in my house. Except I would put in fish, b/c man, how freaky would it be? I also wonder what it looks like at night because it says it has all of hte lighting to keep them alive. How trippy would that be?!

Now I wish they made a fish tank into a coffee table as well built into the legs too so you can create different looking environments. That'd make such a sweet salt water tank with coral reefs in the legs! I would totally buy that!

olympians can't blog home?

Interesting piece of news from Wired. It seems that olympians can't write to a blog, or send pics of their adventures home because of the lucrative deals that were made. The only pics that can go out are ones taken by third party photogs. WTF?! They can't write on their own blogs or anything!

Seriously, this is a new low. Talk about censorship!

"Hey mom, I'd love to send you a pic of me but I can't afford to pay this photographer his fee so you'll have to wait to see it never!"

Finally, I can now find out if I'm sterile!

From the convenience of my own home, I am now able to find out if I'm sterile. All thanks to a product from Pria Diagnostics.

It apparently works by tagging the little ones and with some luminescent stuff and an LED sees how bright it is and let's you know how good or bad they are.

This product is still awaiting FDA approval, but it looks promising.

Wired has this great article about Freeipods.com. I always thought they were fake, but it turns out they are real!

So let's join the fun! The company makes money by acting as a type of headhunter for their clients which include aol, real rhapsody and others. They collect a bounty for the sign ups, basically acting like a referrer.

Although it takes like 6-8 weeks to get the ipod, I don't think thats too bad. Its probably how long it takes them to collect their bounty.

It crosses the road then follows the car. It's pretty weird. And quite frankly, pretty freaky.

So we all know who eBay is and most of us in the know, know who Craig Newmark is. Maybe no his name but his site for sure. Craigslist.org, the wonderful site that has helped many of us get stuff, get together and get more involved. Well, eBay has purchased a stake in craigslist. What a great idea!

Playboy has published an interview of the founders which means they have broken the 'quiet period' rule of not making any type of comments or anything to the public. This could be pretty bad.
